Search Help
The more information you enter into the search fields the fewer matches you will receive. If you receive too many matches you can always refine your search further.

Always remember, what you enter determines what is returned on a search.

For Title and Author please do not enter any symbols such as & (the ampersand symbol) and remember to enter the title properly e.g. Text and Tests 5 and not Text & Tests5.

Please do NOT separate words with commas.

Typographical and logical errors within a book's details as entered by a seller can cause search listings to be errantly returned in a search.

Correct Spelling - The SBE search will only find books matching the exact spelling as specified in your search. The search function is not case sensitive, that is, you can enter upper or lowercase or even mixed letters.
If no matches are returned always check that the spelling of the title or author is correct. Often incorrectly spelt words can lead to the conclusion that the search option is not functioning properly, even though it is. |
Using the Search on SBE
To search the SBE database click the 'Find a Book' option at the top left of the homepage.
Enter the book information you are looking for (you must enter information into one of the text boxes but entering information into all text boxes will help refine your search):
For example:
Title: Text and Tests 5
and/or
Author: Joe Smith
and/or
ISBN: 0111234x61
Note on ISBN entries: Always enter the ISBN without hypens/dashes or spaces.
Examples of invaild ISBN entries:
0-111-234x6-1
0 111 234x6 1
Publisher: Choose from generated list
The SBE search will list all publishers currently in our system. You can choose the publisher from this generated list.
Notes on Sorting your Search Results
You can sort your search results in the following ways by choosing a sort option from the 'Sort by' drop down menu on the search page.
Author (A-Z) - books are listed in alphabetical order by author's name.
Author (Z-A) - books are listed in reverse alphabetical order by author's name.
Title (A-Z) - books are listed in alphabetical order by title.
Title (Z-A) - books are listed in reverse alphabetical order by title.
You must also choose a level to narrow your search i.e. Primary, Secondary or Third Level.
Copyright Policy of SBE
It is the policy of SBE to consider any work produced and associated with an original author to be covered by copyright laws of Ireland and/or where appropriate the copyright laws of the author's country.
If the original author/holder of copyright or indeed the publisher notifies SBE of a copyright infringement, SBE will take the following action:
We will contact the Seller and request the listing be removed from the SBE website within a specified time period.
If the Seller does not remove the listing within the time period, SBE will themselves remove the listing.
If the Seller re-registers the same book back onto the SBE website after being contacted by us to remove the listing, SBE will remove the Seller from the SBE website.
If this Seller re-registers again, SBE will seek the appropriate legal advice to deal with the Seller.
